Amsterdam a visit

 एक वेगळा अनुभव म्हणून सायंकाळी dusseldorf हून सहलनावेने अँम्सटरडॅमकडे निघालो. क्रूझ देखणी होती पण बसण्याची व्यवस्था असलेली केबिन मात्र अती अरुंद होती. क्रूझ बघत हिंडण्यात मौज वाटली. एका ठिकाणी कर्कश्श गाणी, नृत्य चालू होते. तिथेच मोठा बार होता. सर्व प्रकारची दारू उपलब्ध असल्याने त्यातील शौकिनांची चंगळ होती. वरच्या मजल्यावर मोठ्या डायनिंग रूममध्ये डिनरची व्यवस्था होती. सुमारे ३०० पदार्थ मांडून ठेवले होते. तिथे बनवलेल्या खाद्यपदार्थांची नावे आपल्यासारख्या नवख्यांना चटकन कळणे कठीण! त्यासाठी तिथे देखरेख करीत असलेल्या माणसाला विचारून घेणे सोपे! त्यामुळे शाकाहारी पदार्थ लक्षात आले. माझ्या सोबत साधारणतः १३० च्या वर लोक भारतीय होते. आपल्याला सगळे कळते असा गंड असणाऱ्यांना काहीही सांगून उपयोग नव्हता. विदेशात चौकसपणाने निरीक्षणशक्ती राबवावी हे ही कित्येकांना कळत नाही, याला काय करावे? काहींनी अन्न घेण्याच्या ट्रे मध्ये अक्षरशः शिगोशिग भरून पदार्थ घेतले. चाखल्यावर न आवडणारे पदार्थ बिनदिक्कतपणे कचरा डब्यात फेकून दिले. सॉसेज, बीफ न खाणाऱ्यांनी ते ट्रेमध्ये घेतले व कळल्यावर फेकले. या उलट अन्य युरोपीय प्रवासी मात्र आपल्या ट्रे मध्ये निवडक २-४ पदार्थ वाढून घेत होते व ते संपल्यावर पुन्हा उठून हवे ते घेत होते. आपल्याच काही भारतीयांकडून होणारी अन्नाची नासाडी पाहून वाईट वाटत होते.

लंडनमध्येही चहा, कॉफी, दुधाच्या मशीनपाशी असाच अनुभव आला होता. एकदा बटण दाबल्यावर थोडी प्रतीक्षा करावी ना? पण काहीजण दोन-चार वेळा भराभर बटणं दाबत होते. आतला द्रवपदार्थ भसाभस बाहेर येताच त्यांची तारांबळ उडत होती तर काहींनी मशिनच बिघडले असल्याचे सांगून टाकले.
या लहानसहान गोष्टी वाटल्या तरी यामुळे आपले हंसे होत नसून देशाचे होते. कारण विदेशात आपण आपल्या देशाचे प्रतिनिधी असतो, ही जाण यायला हवी,असे प्रकर्षाने वाटले. ती केवळ शिक्षणानेच येते असेही वाटत नाही!!
अँम्सटरडॅमचे बंदर प्रशस्त आणि विलक्षण स्वच्छ होते. शहरही सुंदर आहे. तिथे ट्युलिप्सची प्रदर्शनी पाहताना आपण वेडावून जातो. अनेक रंगांची जणू उधळण होते आहे असे वाटते. खूप फिरत तो रंगानुभव दृष्टीत साठवून घेण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. या देशातून जगभरात ट्युलिप्स जातात. वेळ भराभर जात होता पण ट्युलिप्स संपत नव्हते!!
